About Choey

In 1995, Joseph H. Kucher (family nickname “Choey”) was tragically taken from his family and friends when the car he was driving was struck by a drunk driver.  Ironically, Joe was the sober designated driver of his vehicle, taking care of his family members and his girlfriend that evening. For his friends, the act symbolized yet another example of Joe giving up something for the benefit of others. Unfortunately, it was his last selfless act.

Simply said, life has never been the same for us.

In his image, we believe it is fitting to recognize and award others who exemplify similar characteristics as Choey; selfless, generous, responsible, reliable, hard working and honest. We do this by awarding two scholarships each year in Joe’s memory.
