Letter from the President

OCTOBER 2014

The Choey Memorial Scholarship Fund (CMSF) awarded its first scholarship in June of 1999 and officially became recognized as a 501(c)(3) during May of 2002.  Since its inception, the CMSF has awarded over $54,000 to graduating seniors for scholarships in the name of Joseph H. Kucher.  My mother and father are deeply touched by the continued level of support given to the CMSF, and my wife Keri and I are continually amazed by the level of sympathy, kindness and generosity shared by Joe’s former teachers, colleagues, and especially his friends which he valued so very dearly. We recognize and sincerely appreciate your support over the years to help ease the pain of our loss.

Nothing can replace my brother Joe but the CMSF award maintains the spirit in which he touched us all. The CMSF will continue to be used to assist students in need of financial support for college tuition so they may follow their passion and dreams.  The scholarship award is something we are very committed to and feel strongly about.  The Board spends a great deal of time meticulously reviewing candidate submissions each year.  It’s a difficult decision to select only one candidate each year as there are admittedly several candidates deserving of the award.  With that in mind, we urge all scholarship candidates to submit a comprehensive and thorough application to improve your chance of being selected.  Best of luck!

Going forward, our mission is to continue funding scholarship awards at a rate of $4,000 per student each year based on current charitable contribution levels.  My family, along with the rest of the Board of Directors, thank you for your interest in the Choey Memorial Scholarship Foundation.

Sincerely,

Michael A. Kucher
